Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye took part on Monday in the opening ceremony of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held in Seville, Spain alongside several world leaders.
Organised under the auspices of the United Nations, the FfD4 brings together numerous heads of state and government, as well as top officials from major financial and economic institutions, including the UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), according to a statement from the Senegalese presidency on Facebook.
Plenary sessions continue on Monday afternoon, during which President Diomaye Faye is scheduled to deliver an address advocating Senegal’s vision on a crucial issue: mobilising and aligning domestic public resources. This priority is central to his push for sovereign, equitable, and sustainable development for countries of the Global South.
The international conference provides a strategic platform for reflection and proposals, as many developing nations continue to face major structural challenges in financing their development goals.
