Ethiopian Airlines has been named the Best Airline in Africa at the 2026 APEX Passenger Choice Awards, reinforcing its position as the continent’s leading carrier.
In a statement issued on Monday, the airline said the recognition was based on independent passenger feedback, highlighting its performance in key service areas including cabin comfort, onboard services, and overall travel experience.
The Airline Passenger Experience Association Passenger Choice Awards are regarded as one of credible awards relying on verified traveler ratings collected through global passenger review platforms. The awards assess the airline across multiple categories such as seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment, and connectivity.
The award highlights Ethiopian Airlines’ steady focus on delivering a smooth, comfortable, and dependable travel experience, from the moment passengers book their flights to the time they reach destinations.
“Receiving this recognition from our passengers makes it truly special. It reflects the dedication and teamwork of our staff across the entire network. Being named Best Airline in Africa motivates us to keep raising our standards and delivering an experience our customers can trust and enjoy,” Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines said.
APEX Group CEO Joe Leader on his part said: “Ethiopian Airlines earning the 2026 APEX Best Airline in Africa award reflects the voice of verified passengers at scale. With more than one million verified flight ratings collected through TripIt across more than 600 airlines worldwide.”
The airline noted that the latest recognition adds to a growing list of international accolades it has secured in recent years, underscoring its expanding global reputation and operational excellence.
Africa’s largest carrier currently operates an extensive network spanning more than 140 international destinations, positioning itself as a key player in connecting the continent with the rest of the world.
