Finland has named seasoned diplomat Katja Kalamäki as its incoming ambassador to Namibia, effective 1 September.
The appointment was confirmed by President Alexander Stubb following Kalamäki’s promotion to Counsellor for Foreign Affairs.
Kalamäki currently heads Finland’s Unit for Northern Europe and Regional Cooperation, a role she has held since 2021.
Her diplomatic career includes advisory service to the Foreign Minister and postings abroad in Islamabad and New York where she focused on human rights and equality at Finland’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
Having joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2005, Kalamäki brings two decades of experience in foreign policy and bilateral engagement.
She holds dual Master’s degrees in social sciences.
