Appointed on January 1, 2026, Gabonese Vice-President Alexandre Barro Chambrier, along with members of the new Government, officially took the oath of office on Monday, marking the beginning of their roles under the Fifth Republic.
In accordance with the provisions of the constitution, the solemn swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
On this occasion, VP Chambrier, and all members of the government swore loyalty to the nation, committing to exercise their duties with integrity, responsibility, and in strict compliance with the laws and republican values.
This official act formalises their effective assumption of office and opens a new phase in the implementation of the institutions’ mandates.
The appointments occurred on January 1, 2026, within the framework of the Fifth Republic’s institutional architecture, which aims to strengthen governance, political stability, and the functioning of state institutions.
