Gabon will take a significant step in modernizing its administrative services in December 2025 with the official launch of its electronic visa system.
The reform, part of the country’s national digitalization strategy, aims to facilitate travellers’ entry and streamline immigration procedures.
According to the Gabonese Press Agency, the e-visa will allow applicants to complete all formalities online via the dedicated portal evisa.dgdi.ga, including payment of fees previously made at the airport upon visa issuance.
The fully digital system, developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Digital Economy and mobile operators, provides users with a simplified, secure and fully pre-arranged process before arrival in
Gabon.
The authorities expect the system to improve visitor experience while optimizing migration flow management through enhanced traceability and
reduced processing time.
Digitalization of public services has been a priority of recent reforms in Gabon with many administrative procedures ranging from civil registration to taxation and access to public services, progressively shifting to online platforms.
The introduction of the e-visa brings Gabon in line with practices
adopted by many African and other foreign countries, where electronic
visas have become the central tool for modernizing migration policies,
attracting more travellers and boosting the country’s tourism and
economic appeal.
