President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed strengthening Ghana-India relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, railway infrastructure and pharmaceutical production.
President Mahama noted during the meeting with India’s top diplomat, the growth in trade between the two nations, pointing out that Ghana’s exports to India had risen from approximately $3 billion to nearly $7 billion.
He also highlighted the benefits of Indian cooperation in agriculture, the automotive sector, transportation and reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to develop partnerships that foster the local production of medicines and vaccines.
They also discussed strengthening economic cooperation and promoting a more equitable global order based on the rejection of unilateralism.
Subrahmanyam Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, expressing India’s desire to give fresh momentum to the bilateral partnership.
Cooperation between Ghana and India spans sectors such as infrastructure, ICT, health, trade and investment.
