Israeli President Isaac Herzog is due in Zambia on 10 November for a two-day state visit, marking the first-ever visit by an Israeli head of state to the country, Zambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday.
Zambia’s Foreign Minister Mulambo Haimbe said the visit reciprocates President Hakainde Hichilema’s June 2023 trip to Israel and signals a deepening of bilateral ties between the two nations.
“During the visit, the two Heads of State are expected to hold bilateral talks at
State House within the framework of the General Framework Agreement of
Cooperation signed in 2023,” Haimbe said in a statement.
“The discussions will focus on strengthening collaboration in key areas such as agriculture, health, education and technology as well as trade and investment.”
The leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global issues, including peace and security.
Haimbe said the visit underscores the warm and growing friendship between the two nations and offers an opportunity to consolidate development cooperation aligned with Zambia’s economic transformation agenda.
President Herzog is scheduled to depart Zambia on 11 November following the conclusion of his official programme.
