The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mali (FAMa) announced on Monday, October 5, 2026, that national troops conducted multiple coordinated targeted strikes against insurgent strongholds across several regions of the country.
Conducted under the framework of Operation Dougoukoloko, the military operations relied on advanced intelligence-gathering to identify and neutralize militant bases, logistics nodes, armored vehicles, and troop concentrations.
In the Koutiala region, aerial and ground reconnaissance located a major insurgent staging post ten kilometers southeast of Tiéré containing military equipment, fuel reserves, and heavy transport vehicles, which army units subsequently destroyed. Further northeast near Anéfif, precision strikes eliminated two concealed positions housing militant personnel and an armed transport crew.
Southern surveillance operations 35 kilometers outside Djenné tracked and intercepted an armed group traveling by motorcycle and riverboat, while four fortified positions were neutralized in the northern city of Kidal. Reaffirming their commitment to territorial security, Malian military leadership confirmed that active surveillance operations remain underway to eliminate residual threats and called on the public for continued support.
