As military tensions escalate across the Middle East, Tunis reaffirms its commitment to state sovereignty and calls for an immediate halt to hostilities.
Tunis expressed deep concern over the dangerous military escalation unfolding across the region, reiterating its commitment to international law and the sovereign equality of states. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Tunisian authorities voiced serious alarm over the risk of the conflict spreading and descending into wider chaos.
The communiqué underscored “the serious threat this poses to regional and international security and peace,” stressing the need to safeguard stability in a region already under severe strain. Tunisia condemned any act of aggression against the territory of any state and any violation of its territorial integrity, reaffirming its adherence to the principle of sovereignty enshrined in international law.
In what it described as “a situation of extreme gravity,” Tunis also declared its “unequivocal rejection of any assault on the territory of Arab brother nations” and expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Iraq.
The ministry called on all parties to immediately cease military operations, exercise restraint and return to the negotiating table — with a view to preventing further escalation, protecting civilian lives and safeguarding the resources of the region’s peoples. It underlined that Tunisia remains steadfast in its commitment to Arab and Islamic fraternity and to the peaceful resolution of disputes.
Finally, Tunis stressed the urgent need for the United Nations Security Council to fully discharge its responsibilities and take the necessary measures to preserve international peace and security.
