Morocco and the Republic of Cabo Verde signed an MoU in the field of justice on Thursday in Rabat, as part of the strengthening of South-South cooperation.
This memorandum of understanding aims to structure their cooperation in the field of justice, focusing on training, the exchange of expertise, and the modernization of judicial systems, as part of strengthening South-South partnerships.
This agreement, signed by Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and his counterpart from the Republic of Cabo Verde, Joana Gomes Rosa Amado, is part of the drive to strengthen African partnerships in the field of justice.
This memorandum of understanding opens new perspectives for bilateral cooperation by consolidating mechanisms for judicial, administrative and technical collaboration.
It aims to establish a structured framework for exchange and cooperation, focusing in particular on capacity building and training for justice professionals, the exchange of legal information and analyses related to judicial reforms, the sharing of experiences and best practices on common issues, and the organization of study visits, symposia, and scientific meetings on the modernization of judicial administration.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Moroccan minister emphasised that the signing of the memorandum represents an important milestone in building a solid and ambitious partnership between Morocco and Cabo
Verde, particularly in the area of judicial governance.
He explained that the agreement will enhance the respective expertise of the two countries and inject new momentum into their cooperation, in line with the excellence of bilateral political relations, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and the President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Mr. José Maria Pereira Neves.
He noted that the initiative is part of Morocco’s ongoing commitment to deepening its ties with its African environment, strengthening its fraternal and historical relations with the countries of the continent, and in line with its South-South cooperation policy.
For her part, Ms. Rosa Amado expressed “her deep satisfaction with the quality of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, which continue to strengthen in various fields, including political, economic, cultural and judicial.”
Commending “the Kingdom of Morocco’s constant commitment to the development and integration of the African continent,” the Cape Verdean minister expressed “her country’s desire to take full advantage of Morocco’s recognized experience in reforming the judicial system and modernizing its structures.”
In this regard, she noted that “this agreement is part of a broader set of bilateral cooperation initiatives covering several strategic areas, including human rights, African cooperation and the justice sector, with the shared ambition of raising these relations to a higher level of structuring partnership.”
