The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) have forged a strategic partnership, branded “Morocco, Land of Football,” with the ambitious goal of establishing the Kingdom as a leading destination for both football and tourism by 2030.
The historic performance of the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup, where they became the first African team to reach the semi-finals, coupled with the upcoming hosting of the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, provide significant momentum for this strategy.
This initiative goes beyond a simple institutional agreement, representing a shared vision to harness the widespread enthusiasm for football to enhance Morocco’s global standing.
The ONMT outlined that the partnership will involve extensive communication campaigns, the engagement of prominent figures in Moroccan football, and targeted promotional and influence-building activities. The aim is to project a strong and unified national image, highlighting Morocco’s renowned hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and diverse landscapes.
This approach underscores a deliberate effort to position football as a cornerstone of Morocco’s national branding, creating a powerful synergy between sporting passion and tourism development.
By showcasing its football talent, infrastructure, and unique identity, Morocco aims to establish a model where sport and tourism mutually benefit each other, guided by a sustainable and strategic vision for 2030.
