The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC) and the National Federation of Agri-Food (FENAGRI) have officially signed a partnership agreement in Casablanca.
This collaboration aims to bolster the protection of intangible assets within the crucial agri-food sector, thereby fostering innovation and enhancing export competitiveness.
This partnership underscores Morocco’s strategic commitment to developing a robust intellectual property ecosystem specifically designed to serve its export-oriented industries.
The agreement outlines a series of joint initiatives, including awareness-raising campaigns, specialized training programs, and direct support activities. These efforts are designed to encourage agri-food companies to adopt comprehensive industrial property strategies.
During a workshop held to mark the occasion, industry operators were introduced to the various mechanisms offered by OMPIC for securing their trademarks, patents, industrial designs, databases, and trade names. Speakers at the event emphasized the strategic importance of industrial property as a powerful tool for market differentiation, driving innovation, and improving overall competitiveness.
This initiative is a key component of Morocco’s national drive to promote local know-how and support innovation. It comes at a critical time as the Moroccan agri-food sector seeks to strengthen its international standing, particularly within African markets.
