A total turnover of 1.854 billion shares worth N56.025 billion in 51,386 deals was traded this four-day week by investors on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange.
The market opened for four trading days this week as the Federal Government of Nigeria declared Friday 18th April and Monday 21st April 2025 as Public Holidays to commemorate 2025 Easter celebration.
The weekly report of the transactions released on Friday in Lagos by the Nigerian Exchange showed that the figures were in contrast to a total of 1.525 billion shares valued at N43.006 billion that exchanged hands last week in 51,156 deals.
According to the report, the Financial Services led the activity chart with 1.266 billion shares valued at N29.400 billion traded in 24,351 deals, while the ICT industry followed with 136.707 million shares worth N12.472 billion in 2,974 deals.
Third place was the Consumer Goods Industry, with a turnover of 118.617 million shares worth N4.415 billion in 5,869 deals.
The report added that trading in the top three equities namely Fidelity Bank Plc, Access Holdings Plc and Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc accounted for 797.873 million shares worth N22.043 billion in 8,618 deals, contributing 43.03% and 39.34% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
A total of 442,959 units valued at N22.567 million were traded this week in 59 deals compared with a total of 19,814 units valued at N3.572 million transacted last week in 62 deals
In the Bonds section, a total of 68,561 units valued at N69.173 million were traded this week in 17 deals compared with a total of 81,759 units valued at N84.283 million transacted last week in 27 deals.
The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 1.46% and 1.47% to close the week at 105,752.61 and N66.465 trillion respectively.
Similarly, all other indices finished higher with the exception of NGX Premium, NGX Oil & Gas, NGX Industrial Goods, NGX Growth and NGX Sovereign Bond Indices, which depreciated by 0.43%, 0.07%, 3.44%, 0.41% and 0.06% respectively. ($1=N1606)
