Alassane Ouattara, who was re-elected for a fourth five-year term as Ivorian President in the October 25, 2025 election with 89.77 percent of the votes cast, is being sworn in today, Monday, December 8, 2025.
This date adheres to the Constitution for the inauguration of elected heads of state. Several regional heads of state arrived in Abidjan on Sunday, December 7, 2025, ahead of the ceremony. Ivorian Vice President Tiemoko Meyliet Kone greeted the following leaders at the airport: Bassirou Diomaye Faye (President of Senegal), Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema (President of Gabon), Mohamed Ould Ghazouani (President of Mauritania), and Denis Sassou Nguesso (President of Congo).
The inauguration is scheduled for 10:00 AM (GMT, local time) at the presidential palace. It is also expected to draw vice presidents, prime ministers, senior officials from international institutions, and official delegations.
The Ivorian Constitutional Council confirmed the results on November 4, 2025, declaring Alassane Ouattara re-elected in the first round.
Final vote breakdown: Alassane Ouattara: 3,759,030 votes (89.77 percent), Simone Ehivet: 101,238 votes (2.42 percent), Ahoua Don Mello: 82,508 votes (1.97 percent), and Henriette Lagou: 48,261 votes (1.15 percent).
Ouattara was first elected in 2010, then in 2015 and 2020. His fourth consecutive presidential term was deemed “unconstitutional” by the opposition, which also criticized the “exclusion” of its leaders from the electoral process.
