The Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court has launched work on a locally deployed artificial intelligence application designed to digitize, manage, and analyze judicial archives across the Senegalese court system.
Implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and supported by funding from the Republic of Korea, the pilot project represents a major step forward in the modernization of the country’s legal infrastructure. As part of the technical rollout, high-performance processing hardware—including an NVIDIA DGX Spark system—alongside specialized digitization and storage equipment, was formally transferred to the Directorate of Dematerialisation and Automation (DDA).
Serving as the testing ground for the national rollout, the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court is tasked with establishing standardized protocols for converting paper records and past court rulings into secure digital datasets. These legal archives will be used to train and refine the local AI model under operational conditions, while comprehensive staff training sessions prepare judicial personnel to navigate the new digital tools. The initiative builds upon Senegal’s broader e-Justice platform, with state authorities planning a phased expansion to courts nationwide to streamline case processing and ensure intelligent, long-term access to judicial records.
