Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye is scheduled to undertake two official visits to West African nations this weekend, continuing his active regional diplomatic agenda.
As confirmed by a press release issued after Wednesday’s Council of Ministers meeting, President Faye will first travel to Lomé, Togo, on Friday, July 25, 2025. This working visit comes at the invitation of his Togolese counterpart, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. The following day, Saturday, July 26, 2025, President Faye will be in Monrovia, Liberia, to participate in the festivities marking Liberia’s national holiday, having been invited by President Joseph Boakai.
These upcoming visits underscore President Faye’s efforts to consolidate bilateral relations and strengthen subregional cooperation. They follow closely on the heels of his visit to Cotonou on July 15, where he met with Beninese President Patrice Talon. By consistently engaging with his West African counterparts, the Senegalese head of state is demonstrating his commitment to fostering solidarity, promoting regional integration, and working towards political and security stability across the sub-region, particularly amidst a period of diplomatic restructuring and numerous regional challenges.
