President Cyril Ramaphosa will travel to France from 10 to 12 July for a working visit that includes co‑chairing a high‑level UNESCO education meeting in Paris and joining World War I commemorations at Delville Wood, the Presidency said on Monday.
Ramaphosa was invited by UNESCO Director‑General Khaled El‑Enany to co‑chair the SDG4 Steering Committee on 10 July, followed by the Transforming Education Summit stocktake.
On 12 July, he will attend the 110th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Delville Wood at the South African Memorial in Longueval where a wreath‑laying ceremony and the unveiling of a UNESCO plaque are planned.
Ramaphosa will be accompanied by ministers and senior officials during the France visit, which the Presidency says will advance South Africa’s education diplomacy and honour the country’s wartime history while reinforcing ties with UNESCO.
