Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, and his Emirati counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a phone conversation on Wednesday, to discuss the urgency of a ceasefire in Gaza and the preservation of Sudan’s unity, according to an official statement.
The two foreign ministers reaffirmed “the need to accelerate the implementation of the second phase of the American peace plan and to fully support the National Committee for the Management of Gaza,” the statement said, referring to their telephone exchange on February 25, 2026.
Both sides stressed the crucial importance of coordination between Cairo and Abu Dhabi to stabilise the Palestinian enclave and initiate the reconstruction phase. They underscored the deployment of an international stabilisation force to ensure compliance with the cessation of hostilities.
The two ministers further emphasized that “such a presence is an indispensable step to enable early recovery in the Gaza Strip and to ensure the continuous flow of humanitarian aid to all affected areas.”
Regarding the Sudanese crisis, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s longstanding diplomatic position, reaffirming “Egypt’s consistent support for Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity and the cohesion of its national institutions.”
The ministers called for pooling efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and to support mediation initiatives aimed at de-escalation.
They also exchanged views on ways to reduce tensions in the Middle East, affirming that diplomatic solutions remain “the only path to prevent the region from sliding into further instability.”
In addition, both officials praised the “deep fraternal ties binding the Egyptian and Emirati peoples,” agreeing to further strengthen bilateral partnership across various fields.
