Walid Ben Salah, the current President of the Tunisian Order of Chartered Accountants (OECT), has been elected as the new President of the Pan-African Federation of Chartered Accountants (PAFA) for the 2025-2027 term.
This election, which took place during PAFA’s general assembly on May 6, 2025, is expected to enhance Tunisia’s influence within African accounting organizations and promote greater South-South cooperation in the realm of financial governance.
PAFA, established in 2011, unites 58 professional accounting bodies from 47 African nations. Its mission is to harmonize, promote, and advance the accounting profession across the continent, adhering to international standards of transparency and good governance.
In a press statement, the OECT hailed this appointment as a recognition of Tunisian expertise in accounting and the country’s active engagement within African professional structures. The organization anticipates that Ben Salah’s leadership will foster stronger collaboration among African nations in financial governance and facilitate the adoption of sound accounting practices throughout the continent.
