Türkiye has strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting a Chadian military base in the Lake Chad province, while reaffirming its support for Chad in the fight against jihadist terrorism.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack and expressed solidarity with the Chadian people, who have been affected in recent days by several deadly offensives blamed on Boko Haram.
Turkish authorities extended their condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in combat, invoking “the mercy of Allah” for the victims of what they described as a heinous attack.
The message also conveyed support to the Chadian people during this period of national mourning.
Ankara further reiterated its commitment to supporting N’Djamena in the fight against terrorism. “Türkiye will continue its support to Chad in its fight against terrorism,” the official statement stressed.
This position comes amid strengthening relations between the two countries, particularly in the areas of security and military cooperation.
Attributed to the jihadist group Boko Haram, the attacks reportedly left dozens dead and many others injured among Chad’s Defence and Security Forces. In tribute to the fallen soldiers, Chadian authorities declared three days of national mourning from May 6 to 9, 2026.
