The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) honored 140 members of the Senegalese Formed Police Unit (SENFPU2) during a medal parade ceremony on Friday in Berbérati, located within the Mambéré-Kadéï prefecture.
The decorated contingent, which includes 26 female officers, was formally recognized for outstanding service as they reach the conclusion of their official deployment.
Since deploying to the Central African Republic in September 2025, the Senegalese unit has played a central role in advancing MINUSCA’s core objectives across their assigned sector. The personnel were instrumental in safeguarding civilian populations, securing polling environments during the 2025 and 2026 electoral cycles, and assisting state authorities in re-establishing administrative control throughout the region. Working alongside local Central African internal security forces, the unit carried out regular joint patrols that helped reinforce regional security networks and restore public confidence in domestic law enforcement.
Beyond tactical security duties, the officers led community-focused outreach initiatives that built strong relationships with local residents across Mambéré-Kadéï prefecture. Addressing the officers during the parade, MINUSCA Police Commissioner Li Fang praised the unit’s discipline, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to peacebuilding. Members of the departing unit reflected on their tour of duty, emphasizing how their field operations directly contributed to national stabilization. The medal ceremony marks the end of SENFPU2’s standard rotation under MINUSCA, highlighting Senegal’s continuous contribution to multilateral peacekeeping and security efforts across Central Africa.
