The Atlas Lions of Morocco on Wednesday defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4–2 in a penalty shootout at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a goalless draw at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
The semi-final match between the two teams had to go into a penalty shootout after over 120 minutes of play despite the dominance of the host team and the defensive approach adopted by the Super Eagles of Nigerian.
During the penalty shootout, Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyamaechi of the Super Eagles failed to score, giving Morocco a 4–2 shootout victory.
With this victory, Morocco will now face Senegal on Sunday for the final of the tournament, while Nigeria will take on Egypt, which lost 0-1 to Senegal in the semi-final for the third place position on Saturday.
