The Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Benin) has formally approved a CFA6.6 billion operating and investment budget for fiscal year 2027 following its second ordinary Consular Assembly session in Cotonou.
Chaired by Minister of Trade and Economic Formalisation Alimatou Shadiya Assouman alongside CCI Benin President Arnauld Akakpo, the assembly allocated CFA2.1 billion directly toward capital investments designed to expand private-sector capacity and accelerate national job creation.
The approved budget emphasizes fiscal discipline by prioritizing development projects over routine administrative expenses, aligning with broader state economic targets. Key operational priorities for the chamber include expanding formal business registration across all 77 communes of Benin, providing targeted structural support to small-scale traders and female entrepreneurs, and streamlining tax collection mechanisms in partnership with the Directorate General of Taxes.
