The Burkinabe government has announced that 759,174 candidates will take part in the 2026 school
and professional certification exams, the various components of which have already begun.
The exams will continue until September, according to the minutes of the Council of Ministers meeting.
The Burkinabe ministers in charge of Basic Education and Secondary Education presented the status of preparations for the national exams and competitions during Thursday’s Council of Ministers meeting.
According to the authorities, the Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy, and the Promotion of National Languages (MEBAPLN) has registered 385,543 candidates, including 219,388 girls and women.
The written and oral examinations for the certification assessment of literacy learners began on May 19 and will continue until June 6. As for the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP) exams, they will
begin on June 2nd and end on July 18th.
For its part, the Ministry of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training (MESFPT) has 373,631 candidates, including 212,450 girls and women.
Exams and entrance exams under this ministry began on May 5th with the physical education and sports tests.
The written exams for the Junior High School Leaving Certificate (BEPC), the Vocational Studies
Certificates (BEP), and the Vocational Aptitude Certificates (CAP) will begin on June 2nd.
The physical education tests for the Baccalaureate will take place from May 21st to June 4th, while the written exams are scheduled from June 23rd to July 10th.
Professional certifications, including the Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP), the Professional Qualification Diploma (BQP), the Professional Technician’s Diploma (BPT), and the Specialized
Technician’s Diploma (BPTS), will continue until September 22, 2026.
The government has assured that it has taken the necessary steps to ensure the smooth running of examinations and competitions throughout the country.
