The foreign affairs ministry in Burkina Faso is denying the arrival of a delegation from the
Afghan Taliban government in the Burkinabe capital.
The ministry issued a formal denial on Tuesday while reacting to information circulating on social media suggesting the arrival of a delegation from the Afghan Taliban government.
In a statement, the ministry “informs the national and international public” that the information, relayed in particular in a post dated November 30, 2025, on the Facebook page of Dr. Jean Baptiste Zongo, and mentioning the presence of a certain Fayçal Al Tajik, is “completely false and without any basis.”
The Burkinabe diplomatic authorities insist that “the ministry has not received any delegation from the Afghan authorities, and no meeting of any kind has been held with representatives of that country.”
The ministry also strongly condemned the dissemination of such an unverified information, deeming it likely “to mislead public opinion and harm the image of Burkina Faso as well as the diplomatic work carried out by the national authorities.”
To prevent the spread of disinformation, the ministry’s Directorate of Communication and Press
Relations “therefore urges citizens, the media, and social media users to be vigilant and to refer exclusively to official channels for any information relating to the ministry’s activities.”
Finally, the ministry warned that it “reserves the right to take any appropriate action against those responsible for {issuing} deliberately false publications that harm the interests of the state.”
