Burkina Faso recently honored two World Bank officials in Washington for their contribution to mobilising financing for the country.
The ceremony was presided over by Burkinabe economy and finance minister Aboubacar Nacanabo.
Ana Clara de Souza, Division Director for Burkina Faso, and Sophie Carama Kambou, Assistant to the Executive Director at the Africa II Constituency Office, were recognised for their commitment and professionalism, according to Burkinabe authorities.
Ana Clara de Souza was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Order of the Stallion, while Sophie Carama Kambou was awarded the rank of Knight of the same national honour.
Minister Nacanabo praised the dedication and availability of the two recipients, highlighting their role in mobilising more than $2 billion for Burkina Faso.
These resources have notably supported development projects and strengthened the country’s resilience.
The two officials expressed their gratitude to the Burkinabe authorities, reaffirming their attachment to Burkina Faso and their willingness to continue efforts to deepen cooperation with the World Bank. They said they received the distinction with emotion, describing it as a particular honour.
Through this ceremony, Ouagadougou sought to express its appreciation to two individuals whose work has helped strengthen its partnership with the World Bank and support the country’s development efforts.
