Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo issued a call for intensified government action on Monday, urging public officials to accelerate the implementation of the “Popular Progressive Revolution” (RPP).
Speaking during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office, Ouedraogo signaled that 2026 must be a transformative year for the nation.
Invoking a metaphor previously popularized by President Ibrahim Traore, the Prime Minister stated that the country must reach “V1” speed—the aeronautical threshold at which an aircraft is committed to takeoff and can no longer abort. This, he suggested, represents the decisive momentum required to secure the nation’s future.
In addition to policy goals, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), honoring those who have sacrificed their lives for national security. Noting the spiritual significance of the month of March for both Muslim and Catholic communities, he expressed hope that collective prayer would bolster national peace. While acknowledging gains in education, health, and infrastructure, Ouedraogo concluded by stating that “the most significant results are yet to be achieved.”
