Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibah has ordered executive agencies to accelerate infrastructure and roadwork projects in the Central Tripoli municipality, emphasizing strict adherence to deadlines and closer coordination with local authorities.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) called for a swift rollout of road and infrastructure developments across Central Tripoli, demanding that bottlenecks hindering progress be cleared immediately. The directive followed an expanded meeting with the municipal council, according to a GNU statement. The high-level meeting focused on tracking the government’s broader urban development plan for the Libyan capital, with discussions centering on the progress of ongoing roadwork and infrastructure development, alongside health and education sector projects. Municipal officials provided a status update on current construction sites and detailed the primary challenges delaying the completion of several public utility projects.
During the session, Dbeibah urged executive bodies to stick to established timelines and streamline direct coordination with the municipal council, noting that this cooperation is vital to ensure projects meet approved technical standards and ultimately deliver long-term improvements to public services across the capital. The meeting was attended by Mohamed Ben Ghalboun, Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs; Haitham Al-Zahaf, Minister of Youth; Mustafa Al-Manea, head of the executive team for presidential initiatives and strategic projects; the director general of the Government Communication Center; and various heads of executive agencies and state-owned enterprises. According to the official statement, officials also reviewed the municipality’s urgent needs to support ongoing development plans.
