Egypt will not tolerate any attempts to undermine Sudan’s security and stability, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi said on Wednesday during talks with US officials.
Al-Sissi addressed regional developments and the principle of state sovereignty during a meeting with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the US President for Arab and Middle East Affairs, who is visiting Cairo.
The talks were held in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Head of the General Intelligence Service Hassan Rashad, and the US Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Cairo, Evyenia Sidereas, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency on Wednesday.
President Al-Sissi welcomed “the interest shown by US President Donald Trump in bringing the war in Sudan to an end,” reiterating Egypt’s longstanding position in support of the troubled country’s sovereignty and its backing for all regional and international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability, the statement said.
The talks also covered the situation in several countries across the region and the need for joint action to resolve ongoing crises, “with the aim of consolidating regional peace and stability and preserving the sovereignty of states, the integrity of their territories and the resources of their peoples,” the statement added.
In addition, Al-Sissi and Boulos underscored the importance of holding the second edition of the Egypt–US Economic Forum in 2026 and of “intensifying consultations and coordination between the two countries on a range of regional issues, foremost among them Sudan, Libya and the Horn of Africa, in order to promote stability in the region.”
