Egypt’s National Elections Authority (NEA) announced on Sunday the schedule for the second rounds and re-examinations of the first phase of the House of Representatives elections.
Voting will take place in nineteen constituencies located in seven governorates. The NEA had previously annulled the results in these constituencies on November 18 due to electoral irregularities
discovered during the first phase.
According to the Authority, voting by Egyptians abroad will be held over two days, Monday and Tuesday, while voters in Egypt will vote over three days: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The re-examinations will cover only seven governorates: Alexandria, Assiut, Beheira, Fayoum, Giza, Qena, and Sohag. The NEA also announced that it is finalising preparations to implement the Supreme Administrative Court’s decision to annul the results of twenty-nine other constituencies from the same electoral phase.
The schedule for this new vote will be announced later, according to the same sources.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had asked the National Elections Authority (NEA) to “take the necessary decisions to ensure the integrity of the electoral process” following reports of incidents at
some polling stations.
The announcement of the final results is scheduled for December 25.
For these 2025 parliamentary elections, a total of 34.6 million voters were called upon to choose their representatives from among 1,316 candidates vying for 141 seats in single-member constituencies, as well as a single list comprising 12 political parties.
