The Ethiopian Defense Force over the weekend carried out drone strikes in two locations near Woldia city, Amahara region, killing and wounding unspecified number of civilians.
The strikes came after the federal forces lost battles against the rebel forces also known as Fano at “Jarsa Ber” – near Woldia city and the other one is in Sanka, just about 10 kilometers west of the city.
Residents told APA on condition of anonymity that Jarsa Ber has seen three rounds of drone strikes. Residents also reported that there was continued gunfire. From this one, at least two civilians are killed. There were also casualties on the side of Fano although the residents had an unspecified number of casualties.
Statement Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) said physicians are among the victims of the drone attack at the health center in Sanka.
Residents from Woldia told APA that the attack and the vibe are intimidating. The drone has also been undertaking surveillance,” residents told APA on condition of anonymity.
The drone attacks came days after Ethiopian Defense Forces suffered heavy loss following a fighting with Fano near Beklo Manekia and adjacent areas. Fano forces claimed victory killing over 470 deaths. More than 500 government others were captured. A video footage purportedly showing the captives was circulating on social media over the past few days.
