Regional and zone military commanders from Guinea and Senegal on Tuesday wrapped up a coordination meeting in Labé focused on cross-border security challenges and strengthening cooperation between the two armed forces.
The commanders met from February 24 to 25 at the Central Battalion in Labé, northern Guinea, for a coordination session centered on security along the shared border, Guinea’s Ministry of Defense revealed on Thursday.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen military and security cooperation between the two neighbuoring countries, which share longstanding historical and cultural ties.
Over the two-day session, military officials reviewed key cross-border security concerns, including the fight against organised crime, coordinated border management, the sharing of operational intelligence and the planning of joint actions.
Discussions led to the harmonisation of strategies and the consolidation of collaboration mechanisms among units deployed in border areas.
At the close of the meeting, senior officers from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to working jointly to safeguard stability, peace and security along the Guinea–Senegal border.
The gathering also featured a moment of camaraderie between the delegations, highlighted by an exchange of symbolic gifts reflecting mutual respect and the strength of ties between the armed forces of Guinea and Senegal.
