The Moroccan Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira and Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare on Monday in Rabat held talks on strengthening trade cooperation between Morocco and Ghana and promoting bilateral investments.
During the meeting with the Ghanaian trade minister, the Secretary of State Omar Hejira highlighted the role of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a promising framework offering major opportunities to expand intra-African trade.
He added that Minister’s visit fits within the vision of King Mohammed VI, which is aimed at consolidating South-South cooperation and promoting inter-African economic integration.
For her part, the Ghanaian minister said in a press statement following the meeting that her visit to Morocco was a follow-up to the bilateral encounters held recently on the sidelines of a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting in Cameroon, reflecting a strong shared will to deepen relations between Morocco and Ghana.
“While our relations already encompass established cooperation in agribusiness and investment, the time has come to take them to a higher level,” the minister said.
In her view, Morocco has all the assets needed to establish itself as a leading partner in this new phase of Ghana’s development.
During her working visit to Morocco, the Ghanaian minister will hold a series of meetings with several government members and private sector representatives.
