Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is set to officially open the 2025 Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC), a key event aimed at advancing the country’s ambitious drive to establish itself as a regional energy hub.
Organisers said Nandi-Ndaitwah’s participation at the conference “reflects the kind of forward-looking leadership that is essential to positioning Namibia as an emerging leader in the global energy landscape.”
“Her participation marks a historic milestone for NIEC and reaffirms the government’s commitment to harnessing Namibia’s energy potential for shared prosperity,” said Selma Shimutwikeni, founder and CEO of RichAfrica Consultancy, which convenes the event.
The conference, scheduled to take place from April 23-25 in Windhoek, is expected to attract a global audience of industry leaders, policymakers and investors.
Now in its seventh edition, NIEC has played a pivotal role in shaping discourse around Namibia’s evolving energy sector, particularly its emerging oil and gas industry.
The country’s energy landscape has seen increased international interest as Namibia positions itself to capitalise on its natural resources through sustainable development, local capacity building and value addition.
The conference is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy of Namibia and will feature high-level discussions on governance, industrialisation and economic diversification.
Nandi-Ndaitwah’s government has prioritised ensuring that Namibians benefit from the nation’s resource wealth through sustainable policies and economic inclusion.
More than 1,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend, including senior executives from international oil companies, energy experts and government leaders.
Running under the theme “Leading the Way: Becoming an Energy Hub with In-Country Value,” NIEC 2025 is set to reinforce Namibia’s role in the global energy landscape, providing a strategic platform for engagement and investment in one of Africa’s most promising energy markets.
