Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin-Archange Touadéra on Monday hailed Casablanca as “a new milestone in his country’s transformation”.
This follows the close of an international roundtable on financing the 2024–2028 National Development Plan (PND) in CAR.
The two-day meeting secured nearly $9 billion (about €8.4 billion) in pledges for the CAR. Touadéra expressed his “deep gratitude” to Moroccan King Mohammed VI for what he described as a decisive contribution to the event’s success, held with Morocco’s support.
“Casablanca will now remain etched in our collective memory as a key step in our transformation,” the CAR leader said in his closing remarks.
Touadéra stressed the dual significance of the gathering: mobilising public and private financing needed to implement the PND, and opening “a new chapter of cooperation with technical and financial partners.”
He described the CAR as a nation seeking renewed confidence and integration into regional and international dynamics, highlighting both its resilience and its economic potential.
According to Touadéra, the roundtable “seals an alliance between the ambition of a people and the trust of its partners,” giving visibility to his government’s 2024–2028 vision.
The closing ceremony brought together the CAR president, Morocco’s ambassador to the United Nations Omar Hilale, and the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal. Representatives of international organizations, donors, and the private sector also took part.
