A total turnover of 2.715 billion shares worth ₦158.280 billion in 209,986 deals was traded this week by investors on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Ltd (NGX).
The weekly report of transactions released on Friday in Lagos showed that the figures were in contrast to a total of 3.166 billion shares valued at ₦155.023 billion that exchanged hands last week in 206,662 deals.
The Financial Services Industry led the activity chart with 2.005 billion shares valued at ₦82.924 billion traded in 94,483 deals, while the Consumer Goods Industry followed with 152.345 million shares worth ₦11.425 billion in 20,926 deals.
The third place was the ICT Industry, with a turnover of 117.296 million shares worth ₦15.256 billion in 22,556 deals.
According to the report, trading in the top three equities, namely Access Holdings Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and United Bank for Africa Plc accounted for 1.020 billion shares worth ₦50.520 billion in 29,382 deals, contributing 37.56% and 31.92% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
It stated that a total of 1.831 million units valued at ₦687.314 million were traded this week in 5,413 deals compared with a total of 1.684 million units valued at ₦379.449 million, transacted last week in 4,327 deals.
In the Bonds section, a total of 144,034 units valued at ₦146.416 million were traded this week in 48 deals compared with a total of 81,063 units valued at ₦85.606 million transacted last week in 48 deals.
The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization depreciated by 0.97% to close the week at 248,363.55 and ₦161.260 trillion respectively.
Similarly, all other indices finished lower with the exception of NGX Industrial Goods index which appreciated by 0.02%. ($1=1331)
