The Togolese national team is preparing to begin a new cycle under a French coach during the March international break, with two friendly matches scheduled in Morocco.
The Sparrow Hawks will face Guinea on March 27 in Rabat, before taking on Niger on March 31 in Casablanca, in matches designed to assess the squad and initiate a playing style.
For this first meeting, the coach has selected a squad composed of experienced players and young talents. Key players such as Dakonam Djene, Kodjo Laba, Roger Aholou, and Kevin Denkey are included on the list, alongside newcomers like Idjessi Metsoko, Yannis Lawson, and Faad Sana.
This expanded group aims to combine experience and renewal, with a view to gradually building the team.
The training camp in Morocco should also allow for testing different tactical options and
strengthening team cohesion.
At the helm of this project, French coach Patrice Neveu emphasized the need for “time, patience, and unity” to achieve the set objectives.
He indicated his intention to rely on principles of rigor, discipline, and humility in implementing his work.
During his presentation, the president of the Togolese Football Federation, Guy Akpovy, spoke of “a
new beginning” for the national team.
This direction reflects a desire to structure and develop Togolese football. Patrice Neveu’s appointment was officially announced on Monday, March 2, 2026, with the signing of a three-year contract.
The 71-year-old coach thus embarks on a new mission at the head of the Hawks.
