Benin’s President Romuald Wadagni, on Friday, chaired his first working meeting with the ministers-advisors attached to the Presidency of the Republic, urging them to focus on exemplary conduct and service to the nation.
“We are here only to serve Benin and the Beninese people,” he said.
This was the fundamental requirement that President Romuald Wadagni reminded his advisors during this first institutional meeting held at the Marina Palace.
The Beninese Head of State emphasized “consistency between words and deeds,” attention to vulnerable populations and the duty to explain to citizens the actions undertaken by the government.
Marking a clear break with the electoral process, Wadagni signaled to his staff that “the campaign is now behind us,” calling on everyone to transcend regional or community affiliations.
“They are not here to represent a region or a community, but to serve all the people of Benin,” he stressed.
The Patrice Talon’s successor also reiterated the foundation of the executive’s legitimacy: “The people’s trust is a responsibility. The power we exercise is delegated to us by the nation and must be put at its service.”
