A consular mission from Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued more than 850 identity documents to Burkinabè nationals living in Senegal.
The operation took place from October 12 to 19, 2025, in Dakar and Kédougou, according to a statement from the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Dakar.
“In total, 857 documents were issued, including 397 consular cards, 112 standard applications, and 348 registrations for the Burkinabè National Identity Card (CNIB). The mission also produced several birth certificates and legalised various administrative documents,” the statement said.
According to the embassy, the initiative aimed to bring administrative services closer to Burkinabè citizens abroad and to facilitate their access to official documents. The operation was carried out with professionalism and efficiency, the release added.
Burkina Faso’s ambassador to Senegal, Saïdou Maïga, welcomed the strong participation of the Burkinabè community and commended the consular team for its dedication. He noted that the initiative is part of the Burkinabè government’s broader efforts to strengthen consular assistance and maintain close ties with its diaspora.
