Senegal and Chad have initiated joint efforts to strengthen technical cooperation in standardization, product quality control, and food safety following high-level bilateral talks in N’Djamena.
The Director-General of the Senegalese Association for Standardization (ASN), El Hadji Abdourahmane Ndione, met with Chad’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Guibolo Fanga Mathieu, while attending a national seminar focused on the ISO 22000:2018 food safety management framework. Discussions centered on developing robust quality assurance mechanisms to elevate the competitiveness of local Chadian commodities on domestic, regional, and international markets.
Central to the talks was the strategic alignment of national quality infrastructure with the “Made in Chad” initiative and the country’s broader “Chad Connection 2030” National Development Plan. To support these industrial objectives, the ASN committed to expanding institutional collaboration with the Chadian Agency for Standardization (ATNOR) through technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge transfer. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing South-South technical cooperation, facilitating market access for local enterprises, and supporting broader regional economic integration across West and Central Africa.
