Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and French President Emmanuel Macron met on Tuesday at United Nations headquarters in New York to review bilateral ties and align strategies on critical international issues.
Convening on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly High-level Week, the two heads of state reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, joint security frameworks, and diplomatic resolutions to global conflicts.
In addition to evaluating the Dakar-Paris strategic partnership, the bilateral discussion covered global governance matters, including initial consultations surrounding the succession process for the next United Nations Secretary-General as António Guterres’s term nears completion. The session formed part of President Faye’s broader diplomatic schedule in New York aimed at strengthening Senegal’s international partnerships and advocating for enhanced multilateral cooperation.
