South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile is leading a high-level delegation for the South Africa-France Investment Conference taking place from 20-23 May in Paris.
Mashatile is accompanied by a delegation of key ministers, including those overseeing health, small business development, transport, tourism and trade.
“The visit is aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries and, most importantly, mobilising investments in order to realise the country’s economic growth and transformation objectives,” South Africa’s Presidency said in a statement on Monday.
The officials will participate in high-level discussions on investment opportunities and South Africa’s economic policies.
The investment conference, organised by the South African embassy in France, aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and attract foreign investment.
Themed “SA-France: A Partnership for Mutual Prosperity,” the conference will focus on eight strategic sectors: energy, infrastructure, transport and logistics, finance, tourism, agriculture and agro-processing, mining and information and communication technology.
In addition to the conference, Mashatile is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French Prime Minister François Bayrou, further cementing the cooperative relationship between the two nations.
South Africa and France have long enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic relations, underpinned by collaboration in various fields such as science, education, defence and arts and culture.
