President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been honoured with an award by the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology, APA can report from Juba on Wednesday.
The honour is in recognition of his efforts to promote peace and advance national infrastructure, according to a statement by President Kiir’s office.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Abraham Matoc Dhal praised Kiir for presiding over the building of roads and bridges to improve mobility and boosting economic activity across the country.
He also paid tribute to President Kiir’s involvement in the university and his continued commitment to the education sector.
President Kiir commended what he called the university’s forward-looking approach.
He also praised the achievements made in partnership with the World Bank and African Development Bank.
New laboratories, scholarships for students, and improved ICT facilities on campus are some of the benefits of this collaboration which President Kiir said put the education sector on a progressive trajectory.
