The announcement of the forthcoming joint cooperation commission between Bissau and Conakry was made following a working and friendly visit to Guinea by the Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau, Ilidio Vieira Té, which concluded on Friday, April 24.
For three days, the head of the Guinea-Bissau government held numerous discussions with Guinean officials, which were described as “fruitful.” He was notably received on Wednesday, April 22, by
President Mamadi Doumbouya, before meeting with several ministries on Thursday, including the Ministries of Energy and Mines and Agriculture.
At a joint press conference held on the eve of his departure, the two PMs expressed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between their countries.
praising Guinea’s role in the struggle for the independence of he former Portuguese colony, particularly its hosting of freedom fighter Amílcar Cabral and its contribution to the development of liberation strategies in Conakry.
For his part, Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah welcomed this renewed momentum, announcing an upcoming revitalisation of bilateral relations and initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and security in the sub-region.
