Tunisia and Iraq are moving to significantly enhance bilateral cooperation, with a key focus on establishing direct air links to facilitate trade and tourism between the two nations.
Tunisian Transport Minister Rachid Amri met with Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom in Tunis to discuss methods for bolstering cooperation in civil aviation.
The primary objective of the discussions was to develop a broader technical and commercial partnership aimed at strengthening air connectivity and boosting bilateral tourism and the movement of goods and people. Both officials emphasized the exceptional relationship between the “two brotherly countries” and committed to strengthening ties for the mutual benefit of their populations.
The meeting is part of a wider push for bilateral cooperation intended to foster economic, tourism, and cultural exchanges, while simultaneously exploring new avenues for regional air transport and connectivity.
Deputy Foreign Minister Al-Uloom’s visit to Tunisia is also part of the preparations for the second round of political consultations between the Republic of Tunisia and the Republic of Iraq. During his stay, he also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti.
