The Chadian presidency has decided to revoke the nationality of two activists accused of actions deemed incompatible with citizenship.
Charfadine Galmaye Saleh and Nguebla Makaila, known for their criticism of the government, now face the loss of their citizenship while residing in France.
This is according to the recommendation of the Minister of Territorial Administration which accused Saleh and Makaila of “collaboration with foreign powers and activities incompatible with the status of a Chadian citizen.”
Charfadine Galmaye Saleh, the founder of the TchadOne page, regularly publishes alerts and articles critical of the ruling authorities.
Nguebla Makaila, a human rights activist, returned to Chad in 2021 during the political transition.
He served as the Presidency’s Human Rights Advisor before being dismissed in 2023.
Now back in France, he continues his activism, posting on his Facebook page alerts, denunciations, and commentaries critical of the government of Mahamat Deby.
