At the launch of the second edition of the Tunisian Agritech Week in Dakar, the Director General of Stécia International, Walid Gaddas, reaffirmed the commitment of Tunisian companies to deepen collaboration with Senegalese agricultural stakeholders.
“Following the success of the first edition in 2022, this new event is part of the Kwafel program, supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), which helps Tunisian companies expand internationally,” Gaddas said in his remarks shared with APA.
Throughout the week, six Tunisian companies are showcasing innovative solutions tailored to local realities: highly water-efficient irrigation systems, technologies for transforming agricultural by-products into biofuels, and digital platforms for smart farm management, among others.
“These innovations are not mere technology transfers. They represent a co-construction of expertise, based on equitable knowledge exchange between both sides of the Sahara, within a deliberate South-South cooperation framework,” Gaddas explained.
This initiative aligns closely with Senegal’s key priorities for food sovereignty, agricultural modernisation, and digital transformation, as outlined by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
Present at the launch, Tunisia’s ambassador to Dakar, Rachid Saidani, praised the growing cooperation, noting that “Senegal is currently Tunisia’s leading trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa. This mission reflects the vibrancy of our bilateral exchanges and our shared ambition to build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural future.”
The week’s agenda includes B2B meetings, on-site technology demonstrations, and thematic workshops, all aimed at forging strong and lasting partnerships between the agricultural ecosystems of both countries.
