Air Tanzania, the national carrier of Tanzania, has announced plans to repatriate passengers affected by the suspension of flights to the Middle East.
It follows the escalation of hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
In a statement issued Friday, March 6, 2026, the airline said it will conduct a special evacuation flight from Dar es Salaam to Dubai, and return to Dar es Salaam on Sunday to repatriate stranded passengers.
Earlier, on February 28, 2026, Air Tanzania announced the suspension of its Middle East routes after airspace closures in the region disrupted normal operations.
In a public notice, the airline said the flight is intended to facilitate the travel of passengers whose plans were disrupted after regular commercial flights were halted.
The airline clarified that the upcoming flight will not operate as a commercial service, and priority will be given to passengers who had already purchased tickets before the suspension took effect, it said.
Passengers are advised to contact Air Tanzania offices in both cities for guidance and confirmation before departure.
International airlines have been postponing or cancelling flights across the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran last Saturday, escalating regional tensions.
As a result, flights to and from major regional hubs, including Tel Aviv, Dubai, and Doha, along with other international airports in the region, has been suspended.
