The Angolan Navy has taken delivery of six Swiss‑made ANAVIA HT‑100 Naval unmanned helicopters as part of a roughly $1.2 billion modernisation programme, the manufacturer announced on Wednesday after completing on‑site acceptance tests.
ANAVIA said each drone underwent individual flight verification before being signed off by the customer.
ANAVIA co-chief executive Ishan Sahgal said the delivered package included electro‑optical and infrared sensors, maritime control stations and the helicopters themselves, tested together as an integrated system.
The six helicopters will be deployed two per ship across three new BR71 MK II‑class corvettes, extending each vessel’s reconnaissance reach. The first of the corvettes, the NRA Ekuikui II, was launched in Cherbourg, France, in March 2026.
The HT‑100 Naval variant has a maximum mission range of 600 kilometres, a payload capacity of 60 kilogrammes and endurance of six hours.
For shipboard use, it adds a radar‑guided autonomous landing system capable of operating in rough seas, along with corrosion‑resistant materials and emergency flotation gear.
The delivery comes at a time Angola is pushing to strengthen maritime security and extend operational reach in the Gulf of Guinea.
