Geneva’s justice system has sentenced the eldest daughter of a former Tunisian president to prison and fines for events that occurred in the summer of 2025.
Nesrine Ben Ali, the eldest daughter of the former Tunisian president, was sentenced on March 18, 2026, by the Geneva Public Prosecutor’s Office, according to a penal order revealed in mid-April by the Swiss Newspaper Le Courrier de Genève.
Born in 1987 and described as a national of the Seychelles with no known address, she was found guilty of several offenses committed during the summer of 2025 in a grocery store in the Grottes district of central Geneva.
The events date back to July 30 and August 3, 2025, when a series of incidents erupted at the store.
According to the evidence gathered during the investigation, the defendant first attempted to steal the manager’s cell phone.
A few days later, a more serious altercation occurred following a dispute over merchandise. The authorities found evidence of violence against the shop owner, who was struck and sustained minor injuries, as well as repeated insults.
The situation escalated with the intervention of customers present at the shop. One of them was also attacked and struck, and damage was discovered inside the store.
Geneva authorities indicated that CCTV footage and witness statements confirmed the events, despite some denials from the woman involved.
Beyond these incidents, the investigation revealed that she had been residing illegally in Switzerland between February and August 2025,
Nesrine Ben Ali had already been convicted in 2023 for similar offenses related to her stay in Switzerland. In total, the Geneva court handed down a sentence of 60 days in prison, a fine of 30 Swiss francs, and an additional penalty of 500 Swiss francs for violating narcotics laws.
These amounts are in addition to 560 francs in court costs. A five-day alternative prison sentence is stipulated for non-payment of the fine.
